Christmas is always such a busy time of year, and even more so for us this year. Since most of my family lives out west, we try to spend every other Christmas with them. Not only was it Ben's first Christmas but his first trip out west as well. Before our trip we celebrated a few early Christmas's with Josh's family, who sure did know how to spoil us all. Then it was off to Calgary. Ben was so great on the plane, He fell asleep on the way up and spent most of the flight either playing or sleeping. In Calgary we met up with Josh's friend Zach and spent the day in Banff with him. The next day we went for brunch with my Grandpa and his wife Marion and my cousin Brianne and her family. It was so very nice catch up and to get in a few hours of visiting with them before we had to leave for Edmonton.
We spent most of our holidays at my sisters house with her husband and two boys Zachary ( two and a half ) and Elliott ( four months ). Even though its pretty cold out there we tried to get out and do something everyday. We went to the Royal Alberta Museum and The West Edmonton Mall, we went for a sleigh ride at the Buchan farm.( My sister's in-laws) We even had some adult time, one night at the casino and one night out at a really neat restaurant called The Melting Pot. Every part of the meal was fondue you got to choose a cheese fondue to start, a broth fondue for your entree and a chocolate one for dessert. It was so amazing, and it's the only one in Canada.
But the best part of our entire trip was spending some quality time with my family. Everyone got a chance to
meet Ben and see how adorable he really is. :) It's really hard sometimes to think about him not seeing his Great Grandparents, his crazy Grandma Lisa and his favorite aunt Jessica, his cousins and the rest of the Thompson / Buchan / Blakebrough families. I am just thankful for having things like this blog, email, facebook skype and the funds to actually take trips down there once a year.
Well I will keep this short, but here are some of my favorite pictures of our trip.
