Seven Months

Our little man is seven months, can you believe it? The last month has been so busy, It just seemed to rush by. Ben had a hard time re-adjusting to everything after returning home from Alberta. He seemed to forget how to sleep and eat like he did before we left. So needless to say, we did some sleep training and he is now taking a bottle and no longer nursing. ( And we have never been happier!! )  He sleeps from 7:30pm till 7:30am every night with waking once a night for a bottle. He eats three meals a day - he loves peas, carrots, squash, sweet potato and any kind of fruit. He has grown so much in the last few months it's just so amazing. It seems like every other day he is learning how to do something new. He now says momma along with dada. He says dada when he is playing and he's happy and when he is sad or needs me he calls out momma in a little sad voice - so cute!

Love-Love-Love

One of my absolute favourite things right now is watching Josh and Ben play and interact. It just warms my heart watching them bond in their own special way.

Never Grow Up

I downloaded Taylor Swifts new CD before Christmas and am totally addicted to it. I have always liked her music but her latest cd is just amazing. I happened to hear this song while driving into town, and I just started crying.
It is one of those songs that make you stop and think. The first verse really touched my heart and made me think so much about Ben and how all these moments will soon just be faded memories. I already miss so
many things about him being a newborn. The way he would make his pouty face when he woke up or when you would pick him up and he would curl up and stick his little bum out. Now that he is seven months he doesn't even smell like a newborn. Each day he learns something new and I am so proud but it all seems to be going by way too fast, and I honestly never want him to grow up..take a moment to listen to this song, I promise you that it will bring back memories you wish you remembered more often.

Little Jumping Bean

Ben absolutely loves his Jolly Jumper. Every time he is in it he goes wild. He would probably spend the entire day in it if I let him. He just goes and goes, even hiccups won't stop him. Sometimes he will do little spins and hop around on his tiptoes. It is just the funniest thing to watch. Enjoy!! Happy Sunday -- Go Jets!!

offence taken

Ben and I go to several different mommy and baby groups around our area, but for some reason never went to the one in our own town. So I thought we would go and check it out a few days ago. Since we were new there of course the facilitator came over and was introducing everyone and trying to get to know Ben and I. It was all great until she said to me "So when do you have to go back to highschool?"  REALLY??? I was so upset.. I know that I look young but seriously..highschool! It has always bugged me a little when I get young comments but I think it does even more so now that I have had Ben. I would hate to think that I am an unwed, single mother in highschool! I know that in 20 or so years I will appreciate it but not now..

Christmas Vacation

Christmas is always such a busy time of year, and even more so for us this year. Since most of my family lives out west, we try to spend every other Christmas with them. Not only was it Ben's first Christmas but his first trip out west as well. Before our trip we celebrated a few early Christmas's with Josh's family, who sure did know how to spoil us all. Then it was off to Calgary. Ben was so great on the plane, He fell asleep on the way up and spent most of the flight either playing or sleeping. In Calgary we met up with Josh's friend Zach and spent the day in Banff with him. The next day we went for brunch with my Grandpa and his wife Marion and my cousin Brianne and her family. It was so very nice catch up and to get in a few hours of visiting with them before we had to leave for Edmonton.

We spent most of our holidays at my sisters house with her husband and two boys Zachary ( two and a half ) and Elliott ( four months ). Even though its pretty cold out there we tried to get out and do something everyday. We went to the Royal Alberta Museum and The West Edmonton Mall, we went for a sleigh ride at the Buchan farm.( My sister's in-laws)  We even had some adult time, one night at the casino and one night out at a really neat restaurant called The Melting Pot. Every part of the meal was fondue you got to choose a cheese fondue to start, a broth fondue for your entree and a chocolate one for dessert. It was so amazing, and it's the only one in Canada.

But the best part of our entire trip was spending some quality time with my family. Everyone got a chance to
meet Ben and see how adorable he really is. :) It's really hard sometimes to think about him not seeing his Great Grandparents, his crazy Grandma Lisa and his favorite aunt Jessica, his cousins and the rest of the Thompson / Buchan / Blakebrough families. I am just thankful for having things like this blog, email, facebook skype and the funds to actually take trips down there once a year.

Well I will keep this short, but here are some of my favorite pictures of our trip.

Ben's laugh

Ben thinks it's pretty funny when I pretend to sneeze.

Happy New Year

I have wanted to start a blog for what feels like forever, even more since we had Ben. I have always enjoyed reading our friends and family's blogs, so I hope you will appreciate reading about our little family. I think it's a great way for others to see what's going on in our lives  and have a place where we can record our memories to look back upon in the future. I will try to post as often as possible, so bookmark this page and visit often also please feel free to leave comments, I would love to hear what you all think! Here's to 2011 <3
