Greenview Aviaries

A few weeks ago Benjamin and I got invited to Greenview Aviaries park and zoo, with the daycare he goes to.( which happen to be friends of ours ) Anyways I have never been before and was so impressed, I could not believe how beautiful of a place it was. It had an unbelievable amount of animals, all well kept and clean. You walked up to the front and you could buy animal food for $1 and you could feed all the animals. Benjamin seemed to really enjoy the ducks and goats. He triend to touch them but at the last minute he would pull away. It was really cute. Although one of the ducks thought he was trying to feed him and he nipped Benjamin's little finger, nothing serious, he just walked away.  He made his puppy, sheep and cow noices all day- so cute!

Not only did they have a beautiful zoo, it was had a playground kids probably dream of. With tampolines, big ball pit, small ball pit, miniture village, swings, slides, play grounds, zipline AND a really great splashpad. Benjamin would run in and out of the splashpad trying not to get too wet. It was way too cute and such a fun day. Definitely will go back again and again!

canada day

Growing up we never really did much as a family, a few trips here and there but nothing extreme like Disney world or whatever. But my mom always, always took us to every parade, fun fest, any event for children. I know it sounds cheesy but some of my favourite memories as a child was doing just those little things. Since having Ben I have been looking forward to all the fun kids activities that we can do together.

Canada day we went to Chatham for the parade, Ben absolutely LOVED it. He was clapping and waving at all the people. I even let him have his first sucker ( I think he loved that more ) It was such a special day, I am so proud to be a Canadian and to have our child grow in such a beautiful country.

our garden baby

With the nice weather comes yard work. As much as you do it never seems to be done..there is always something more to do. But this year we have our little garden helper. Ben can have 100 toys out in the yard but he just wants to play in the dirt! Typical boy he loves rocks, sticks, dirt, mulch and bugs. It is so funny to see him explore in the dirt, bang two rocks or sticks together, or try to pick up and eat every moving creature.

Try a Tri

The day before Benjamin's birthday Josh and Mark ( his dad ) completed their first triathlon in Guelph. It was called a Try a tri - they had to swim 375 meters, bike 10 km and run 2.5 km. None of us had ever been or seen a triathlon so we didn't know what to expect. The crowd was huge and the atmosphere was intense, there had to be at least two thousand people there, three hundred plus in their category alone. The winner in the group was a 13 year old who finished in 36 minutes, Josh finished 58 minutes and Mark around 112. It was so exciting watching them cross the finish line, I am so proud of them. I know I would not even have the guts to do it myself, but they did awesome! They now both have bought a road bike since and have been training for their next one in September - hoping to beat there previous times ( which we know they will )

Birthday pictures

We celebrated Benjamin's first birthday on Father's Day with some of his closest family members. It was such a beautiful afternoon, I was stressing out most of the morning trying to get things ready, but with the help of Josh  and Theresa we were able to get everything done in time for the party. Benjamin really had a blast eating ice from our drink bucket and playing with his balloons. A big thank you to everyone who came out to help Benjamin celebrate, He definitely is a lucky little boy.
